In 2001 the Jurassic Coast was inscribed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO for the outstanding universal value of its rocks, fossils and landforms. It remains England’s only natural World Heritage Site.

SEATON SITS BETWEEN THE VILLAGES OF BEER AND BRANSCOMBE TO THE WEST, AND LYME REGIS A LITTLE FURTHER EAST. THE LOCATION IS SUPERB FOR WILDLIFE, SEASIDE ADVENTURES AND LONG WALKS ALONG THE PROMENADE.

THE CAMPSITE OFFERS DIRECT ACCESS ONTO THE RIVER AXE WHICH BORDERS THE REED BEDS, MARSHLANDS AND BIRD HIDES OF SEATON WETLANDS. DEPENDING ON THE TIDE, YOU CAN LAUNCH A KAYAK OR PADDLE BOARD WITHIN A FEW METRES OF YOUR PITCH. ENJOY THE CALM WATERS OF THE ESTUARY OR EXPLORE THE COAST FOR AS FAR AS YOU LIKE.

SEATON ITSELF HAS A MILE-LONG, UNSPOILT PEBBLE BEACH WITH CRYSTAL CLEAR WATERS THAT ARE HOME TO GREY SEALS AND THE OCCASIONAL DOLPHIN. THE CLIFFS HERE ARE RICH IN FOSSILS, PROVIDING A GLIMPSE INTO MILLIONS OF YEARS OF EARTH'S HISTORY. THE SOUTH WEST COAST PATH RUNS ADJACENT TO THE BEACH, LEADING TO VIEWPOINTS THAT OFFER PANORAMIC VISTAS OF THE COASTLINE AND THE ENGLISH CHANNEL BEYOND.

  • AXE CLIFF GOLF CLUB (3 MINS)

    Founded in 1894 and nestled along the Jurassic Coast, the course offers breathtaking views and a unique golfing adventure. It is a par 70 at 5913 yards from the back tee with a good mix of par 3, 4 and 5 holes - some are short and tricky and some are long and scenic.

  • SEATON TRAMWAY (5 MINS)

    Running directly opposite the campsite, this charming, narrow gauge electric tramway offers amazing views over Seaton Wetlands and nature reserve. The three mile route runs parallel to the glorious Axe estuary all the way up to the village of Colyford.

  • BEER QUARRY CAVES (9 MINS)

    A vast man-made complex of 2,000 year old underground caverns that were started by the Romans. Beer stone was used in the construction of Exeter Cathedral, Westminster Abbey and the Tower of London. A memorable experience with great guides.

  • AXE WILDLIFE PARK (11 MINS)

    A small and family friendly zoo just up the road from us. Meet the animals and get involved with daily activities such as keeper talks, enrichment sessions and morning and afternoon meet and greet sessions. There are loads of creatures to see all around the park.

  • THE LOST FOUNDRY (13 MINS)

    A fine art bronze casting foundry that specialises in the lost wax method to transform original sculpture ideas into enduring works of art. Under the expertise of founder, Rich, it’s now grown into a world-renowned foundry offering a choice of courses and a shop.

  • DONKEY SANCTUARY (14 MINS)

    Founded in 1969, The Donkey Sanctuary is dedicated to improving the welfare of donkeys. This free-to-visit, award-wining attraction offers something very special and is home to hundreds of adorable rescue donkeys waiting to meet you. There’s a great restaurant too.
